| The goal of my blog is to provide support, guidance, words of wisdom or inspiration to you as you travel along your life's path. I, like so many of you, am well aware of the challenges, the ups and downs, and a sense of overwhelm, one may experience during his or her journey. I have often thought to myself, "wouldn't it be nice if I had someone....... a mentor, some wise person, an angel, anyone, who would help me as I navigate the often tumultuous waters of my life." Then, perhaps, the ride wouldn't feel so uncertain, scary or rocky.
During my own journey, I actively have sought direction through formal education and training, various workshops, reading, and occasional mentorship from those I consider to be "wiser" than I. Along the way, I have adopted principles, strategies, perspectives, and attitudes that have made a profound difference as I navigated the sometimes rough and rather complex terrain of my life. Much of what I have learned has come from personal explorations that have included: (1) reading many books authored by well-known, well-respected leaders in the self-improvement/growth and spirituality world, (2) attending workshops focused on self-growth and evolution, (3) participating in my own personal therapy and life coaching experiences, and lastly, (4) training as a clinical psychologist. Many of the books that have had the most impact on me are listed in the Inspiration/Words of Wisdom section of this website. While I hope that the "words of wisdom" and inspiration that I provide in this blog may serve as a welcomed helping hand, they are not intended to serve or replace your own personal therapy or life coaching experiences. Should you find yourself struggling with personal issues, I encourage you to seek assistance or support through a licensed psychotherapist, life coach, or a trusted leader of your church. I intend to provide inspirational pieces on a monthly basis. Likewise, while it is my intention to provide words of wisdom or support to you, it is also possible that you will find them to be unhelpful. Should this be the case, I request that you refrain from negative criticism. I welcome differing perspectives and feedback that preserve the positive, life-affiming intentions of this blog. |

| Thoughts Become Things |
| Many of us do not truly understand or appreciate the power of our thoughts. We think thoughts non-stop. As a matter of fact, we cannot NOT think thoughts. Our mind is designed to think thoughts in every single moment. Our thoughts are so abundant that most of us take for granted that they are there and really don't pay much attention to them because there are so many. Think about it this way, when we see something that is rare in our experience, we take notice. We take it in. We appreciate it. However, when there is so much of something, we rarely notice it. It often has little value or power for us. We do this with our thoughts. And, this can be dangerous. Why you might ask? Because, our thoughts are very powerful. Thoughts are the most potent form of energy in our universe.
There have been amazing advances over the decades in quantum physics; and the most awe-inspiring, profound finding of all is that every single thing in the universe is energy. Literally, EVERYTHING! Thoughts are no exception. Every single thought has a biochemical property, a frequency, an energetic vibration that can be measured. Each thought you think, emits a vibrational frequency to the universe and the universe responds. Thus, the energy from thought has power. Modern science has proven that thoughts emit frequencies that can be measured by various types of brain imaging techniques. And science has proven that these frequencies have a direct influence on physical reality. Dr. Masaru Emoto, an internationally acclaimed scientist, is a graduate of the Yokohama Municipal University and the Open International University as a Doctor of Alternative Medicine. His studies on the power of thought are captured in photographs originally featured in his several volumes of work, The Hidden Messages in Water. Dr. Emoto has been at the forefront of the study of proof that thoughts and feelings affect physical reality. He demonstrated the power of thought by presenting different thoughts to the same water samples. Dr. Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water revealed changes when specific thoughts were directed toward them. He found that water that had been exposed to loving words showed brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, water exposed to negative thoughts, formed incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. Negative thoughts and positive thoughts, whether presented in written or spoken form, literally changed the "expression" of the water. There have been countless studies that have validated Dr. Emoto's findings that thoughts change physical reality. The art and science of muscle testing has also confirmed the power of thought. Dr. Wayne Dyer, an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development, illustrated the power of thought in one of his workshops. After determining a baseline using standard muscle testing procedures, Dr. Dyer asked a volunteer to think of negative words such as shame. As the volunteer was thinking the negative thoughts, Dr. Dyer completed muscle testing again. The volunteer completed the same muscle testing procedure as she thought of positive words. Results from this experiment indicated that the volunteer's muscle test was very weak when she held negative thoughts in her mind and was very strong when she held positive thoughts in her mind. If we truly stop and reflect, however, we do not need advances in modern science or technology to prove to us the power of thought. We all have had experiences when someone has said something to us, or we have said things to ourselves, that have had a hold on us. Whether the things said to us have been words of encouragement, criticism or worry, they have had a powerful effect on us. While words of encouragement can leave us feeling uplifted, hopeful, and happy, words of criticism can make us feel sad and worthless. Words of worry can lead us to feel stressed and weighted down. Then, reflect on the decisions you make, or courses of action you choose, as a result of the emotional experiences that originate from these thoughts. So, choose your thoughts wisely. Because what you think, becomes your reality. This is a proven fact of science. Thoughts are powerful. |
